My .02 cents: Save yourself a long drive and an overpriced admission. There are many better haunted houses and hayrides in the syr area. With screamers hollow after driving that far and paying so much I felt like saying "are you serious"?

I'd recommend waiting until after the very first night (or 2) to judge these things. There are always 'kinks' to work out, and there are some things you can't test in a dry run. After a weekend or two and things are in full swing, EVERY event gets better.. I'd recommend taking opinions this early in the season with a grain of salt. Happy Haunting!

A bunch of us went friday night we thought it was very cool. Awsome band and very cool live stage shows in between music. They had some 8 and 10ft tall very well made up scary guys lerking around and some free roaming actors while we hung out in the village interacting with people between the diferent events. The ghost story fire pit was also very good much bigger and better overall than last year.

I think it is completely worth the drive(and isn't a long drive the perfect time to tell ghost stories to get in the mood)!! I may be a bit bias, because I helped do a little work on the attractions, but it also gave me an inside look into this event. I think Screamers Hollow has some cool features that no other haunt around can boast! Where else do you get acres of creepy (yet beautiful) grounds to just hang out and listen to music, play games or grab a bite to eat all with ghouls and neat "creatures" walking around? I can't wait to go again with a bunch of friends on a nice fall night and just enjoy some fun and scares! And the price may be a bit higher but the have made a HUGE investment in world class props(they have animatronics over 20 feet tall and even a hearse) and have a lot of people on staff. Personally, I love to support great local businesses that are really trying to do something different and that is what Screamers Hollow is all about.
So I know I will be back again this season and look forward to seeing all my fellow hallo-weenies there as well! It is good creepy fun and I know that it is just getting better and better!

I went to screamers hollow Friday night and my friends and I did all 3 attractions, and we really liked it all. The hayride was long and filled with some awsome big props...and lots of lights and sound . There were monsters all over . Two of my friends got the crap scared out of them in the maze...and we had a riot . It was so much better than last year.....and we are going back the last weekend with friends from college. We all say it was well worth the trip!!!

For an honest review of this place & price I found this review a friend sent me that happened to them last yr. I have passed this on in hopes that other people will read this. Heres the link: www.unexplained-mysteries.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=136601. This place is a joke! Save yourself the gas, long ride, & $$$!!!!: save your money!!!! Heres what happened when we visited Screamers Hollow @ the Renaissance in Sterling NY this past w/end. "THE PRICE WAS THE SCARIEST PART" This past friday, a group of 6 friends (25-30yrs old) went to Screamers Hollow at the Renaissance in Sterling NY. First let me start out by saying we expected to be scared out of our minds for the price we paid. Per couple for 2 trails and to listen to a crappy band $ 54. 00. Thats $162 profit. It was absured! The only thing scary about this entire " haunted trail " was the PRICE ! The tour guide was horrible! The trail was extremely steep with lots of rocks and the only light is provided by the tour guide that takes off infront of you.You travel through buildings that have fake effects, nails stick ing out of boards, steep stairs, no lighting, trails that aren't meant to be ventured out on in the dark...horrible! We encountered maybe 7 people during both trails that were real with horrible getup costumes that didn' t even make you jump! Maybe laugh ! The headless horseman, comes out on a real horse but unfortunately didn't even hide his head! Towards the end, one of the employees, were hoovering over a bridge above our head and shot something down to scare the girls infront of us. Well, I was up again st the wall and put my hand throu gh a nail that was stick ing out! !!!We immediately stop the tour guide and she shruggs us off. Meanwhile blood is dripping from my hand. We go up to the front gate and ask for something to steri lize my hand and a bandage ( this was a rusty nail) and the cops direct us to this miniv an? ?? YEAH... MINIVAN! Anyways, finally this man walks over 15minutes later and has nothing but a bandaide! We couldn't believe a place that charges $25 per person PLUS TAX (no other haun ed trail charged tax) doesn 't have anything to sterilize an open wound ! The "EMT? " then gets rude towards us and says, "this is the best I can do !" Meanwhile a half hour has passed and we have yet to venture though the 2nd trail. We are finally able to speak to the manag er, which tells us we are not getting any refund and wouldn't write down his number, name or even bother writing up an accident report ! !! My husband tells him how rude his employees are and all we need is his info so when I go to the Dr. for a tet. shot, we'd bill him for it! This man, the ower, gets in my husbands face and tells him hes not " getting anything and he's gonna have my husband arrested" ! ARRESTED? For what? ?? We simply wanted his name and insurance info, after all I did get injured on his property. After the owners threats and choice words towards us, we told him if we weren't getting a refund we were going to finis h the other trail that we paid for which was also a joke! Upon getting in line for the second trail, we overheard him radio to the ticket person, "hold up that group, I want them followed my security? " I could not believe the audacity of this business owner! I honestly thought this must be a dream? I'm really hoping you'll listen to my story and hopefully pass this on so no one else wastes their time or money and gets hurt at this place ! If you live in Central ny do not go to the haunted house at the Renaissance fair in Sterling NY! Rude owner , staff , and dangerous trail ! I could have went to Party City or Dougherty's Masquerades in Syracuse and seen the same effects for free! Not wasting time or gas! If you' re looking to be scared out of your wits visit Trail of Terror in Volney, NY! Its $8 for the trail and extremely scary ! Well worth an evening of fun! Thanks a bunch for listening !

I read your post on screamers hollow, and though it may have happened...it was last year...and I decided to take my family from up north last weekend and im really glad we did. We all did the hayride and maze and it was really good. The park was open to walk around, food and games...and a band was playing all night too. I think maybe it was their first year opening up, but this year , having just went there, it was awsome!! I have told my friends to go. I have also already been to trail of terror, and every year is always the same thing........so it was nice to see something new in the area.

I agree, that you should give places a chance here. Last year was LAST YEAR....and it sounds like sreamers hollow has fixed the problems they had the first year out. I am taking my girlfriend this weekend, and I will stop back to let you all know how it was. I say.... GO people, and deide for yourself! As for trail of terror or the other haunts, try them too...just go have fun and enjoy it yourself.

Ok everyone, I told you all I would report back on my visit to Screamers Hollow-- so here it is. Way cool...really good!! I took my girlfriend last night with two other neighbors, and we did all 3 attractions starting with the hayride. It was long.......and had some great stops...with good music and the cranival stops were awsomeeeeeeeeeeeee!! Thenn we went in this asylum maze that got us both on several times freaked out!! We both had some hamburgers and then we hit the boggs walk...which was way down the trails......but it was alot of fun. I pushed my friends through the moving bridge thing...and the demon thing was chasing us. Then after that we did go back in the middle and listen tto the band some, but we got cold so we took off, but I can now say that you should go to this haunt, it's well worth your trip. So, hope this helped.

Thanks for sharing scareojack! If you wouldn't mind also posting it in the reviews section, many more people will get to read it, since that section has direct links in the sidebar of the Haunted Attraction directory. Happy haunting!
