We went to Creepy Camp at Shoppingtown Mall after winning tickets on KRock. I have a mixed review of the place. Creepy Camp has had such a strong reputation as a haunted house, I hoped they could maintain that in the move. While the scenes were good, I couldn't help but feel like I was in the mall the whole time, even though they did their best to enclose the sets. I miss the creepiness of the atmosphere at the camp itself. Anyone know the real story behind their move to Shoppingtown? I do applaud the enthusiasm of the actors, but I've always found Intensity annoying. Getting lost in a pitch black maze with people screaming at you from over the wall just doesn't do it for me, but my girlfriend loves it and prefers it to the Autumn Nightmare attraction.
Overall, I enjoyed our trip to Creepy Camp. While I no longer have them at the top of my list of scariest haunts, they're still in the "good half" of local haunted houses, far ahead of moneygrabs like Fright Nights and Screamers Hollow. I'm glad they're still with us and that the money they raise goes to a good cause.

It was in the paper and on the news. They got in trouble with the town that the camp sits on. The way it was written in one paper made it sound like it was there fault. I know someone that worked for them last year and was told that they got themselves in trouble with more than just the town. I hope they get themselves turned around becuase it really used to be a good haunt even when it was at the mall and fairgrounds in the past. I have attended many creepy camp year, even before they were creepy camp. Back when they were autumn nightmare. I have seen such a decline in quality, almost as if they were rushing to put it together . I understand they only had a few days this year becuase of the move, but they were limited on time when they were at the malls before. That's no excuse for the last 2 years. That and at the camp itself. It was always the same old stuff the laid out differently. It was only the two years that I started to see improvement. With some things that looked more technically thought out to the complete rearangement of there slaughter house which was exactly the same for 3 years in a row. To the addition of distactions that moved, a pnumatic that appeared to make its own noise in the cabins, a very disorienting triggered strobe light in there slaughter house. To far better sound effects and quality, effects that didn't sound like you typical $3 Walmart cd. Where was all of that this year. It's as is they had a pro working for them over the last 2 years and he must have moved on to somewhere else.
I was accused in my reviews last week of haveing an in with screamers hollow. I don't have an in with anyone. If I did, it would be for a not for profit. They tend to have more fun doing it. I have only worked one haunt in the are since moving here years ago and they aren't even around anymore. I am from the pro market, and I not talking about pro like fright nights or screamers hollow. I am talking about pro like, universal Orlando. If I ever got my hands on a haunt around here, it would become the best and it would bring in the numbers and it would out everyone else to shame year after year.
Sorry for the rant but I review on a higher quality and the Syracuse area doesn't have it.

Iam glad to see someone else thinks Intensity is exactly what you said ANNOYING!..not scary at all to me or anyone I know. Went through once years ago and thought about charging people to walk through my basement with the lights off lol same thing pretty much. People flashing lights in your face and banging on the walls? come on why would you pay for that?.

Wow, I mean really. If you you read the paper back in September. They were told that they needed a permit 6 months ago, that town, the town of Fenner has always required a special use permit, this camp has never had a permit. Why is they were told 6 months previouse was there all of this last minute rush. They knew they were going to have a problem since May. It was in a Madison county paper. Look for it you might learn a thing or two.
Where is your review of this attraction. I see you didnt like part of it. What about the rest.
I didn't think I scolded them that bad, it was based on what I knew they were capable of from years past.
Yesterdays article in the Post Standard, attendance down 80+%. They had more media coverage this year than they have had most years. They have never sponsered this forum in the past. You can't tell me nobody knew they were in the mall. They have done the mall scene before and they did well back in those days.
I sincerly hope the managment of this haunt is made to notice these argumentative post so that they can realize they have a problem or two that they need to look into.
Now I will remind everyone once again. This was my review, there is nothing you can do about it now. It was honest. Halloween is over, deal with it. There will be next year will I will make a point of visiting each and every haunt on this site and I will be honest.
I just found an article in todays paper about the town defending themselves and stating everything about the permit situation that I said above. Read the facts. It there own fault.

Just found out today about them having such a long notice that is a shame. I was wrong the paper is part to blame though. As I said I believe it was 07 I attended creepy camp and thought the whole idea of intensity was a joke just my opinion Im not scared of the dark, and honestly dont know anyone who would pay to walk through a dark room. The rest was ok i guess

there are alot of reasons that cc didnt stay where they were in chittenango.....and i was a 15yr vet if the attraction....im sure michelle and the mgmt there made a decision to move for customer saftey first....so throw out rumors and make youself look like a fool.....and for those of you that think putting up an attraction like this is easy or done in a week of two....your sadly mistaken...it takes months and months of time and plannaing and volunteers to set it up.....i encourage anyone to volunteer sometime and see what really goes into setting up an attraction like this!!!!!!!!!

What rumors?...simply going by what the paper says. So the only fool is you clown. Also not one person on this board ever said it was easy settin up a haunt so wtf are you talking about?.who said that tell me?.Every review started by sayin "I know they were short on time"..or "I know how good this place usually is at its usual spot"..and still had decent reviews. We are not stupid dont make stuff up..I actually agree with haunt review IT'S OVER MOVE ON!!

To funeralthirst. First of all you are breaking one of the rules of this forum. You are not supposed to be bashing review. A review is personal opinion. It's one of the reasons people don't submit many reviews on here. It's obviouse to me that you are only on here to promote which ever of the two haunts that you "highly recomend."
To rebbzy72. I know how long it takes to setup a haunt. I have done it many times. My concern is how long can it really take to set up decent effects. If they were in place over the last couple year then someone in the organization had them. If a prop was built and put into place last year. Were did it go? If its already built, it should only be a matter of connecting an air line and a couple of wires. Even if not ready for the first weekend, it could have been ready by the second. Even I can hook up a decent stereo in a few minutes. To both of you and everyone else reading. Technolgy in haunts is the wave of the future. There are articles on all of the haunt sites out there. Everyone's customers are coming to expect more from their haunts. Some of the Syracuse haunts are not embraceing it and the ones that are aren't useing is in the most effective ways.

Shut up review ive been posting here sense last year you dont know me. I like all GOOD haunts Im here to promote the ones I like I dont have to time to go to many here. The time I do get I go to damn near nyc and philly to get me high. I love halloween and haunts thats why Im here you dont know me once again. I go to headless horseman every year and went to bates motel and pennhurst this year for the first time. So you dont have to tell me nothing about technology in haunts I know and so does everyone else once again we are not stupid. your not smarter than anyone else. Now do as you said and get over it!..post something we can discuss thats productive. Im sick of this bs back and forth cuz your not sayin to my face lol..ya wanna talk haunts in a mature manner ill check back otherwise ill see ya next year

I really dont wanna aruge anymore with someone who I think has the same passion. For haunts like I do. Or you could just be a douche I dont know. If ya wanna talk haunts in general I got alot to say. What are your thoughts on shaker cans??..do they scare you??..or piss you off??

I feel shakers cans or other forms of noise maker are good for those scareactors that are quiet. I have met some actors in the past that just didn't have a loud enough voice to pull off a good scare. It may be annoying, but what might loss off one person may scare 5 others.
Sorry for the argument, I am really not trying to loss you or anyone else off. The two reviews were my opinion and obviously far different than every body else's.
