made the drive out to sandy creek to check out their attraction(s), albeit with some hesitation as the last 50 minute drive to a haunt (screamers hollow) proved to be a monumental waste of time and gas. such was not the case at bloodcreek. unlike the latter mentioned, you could tell these guys had some creativity, imagination and simply gave half a damn. it was a late sunday night and i don't feel like they short staffed or scrimped at all. i felt bad for the workers as they stood diligently out there in the cold, for meager wages i imagine, waiting for folks to come through. and they didn't half ass the scares or attempts at all as we came by (it's probably how they warm back up anyway lol). the first indoor haunt was short but sweet. by the time i started getting into it, out the door i was. what the?? i thought this somewhat strange and disappointing for a place that makes you think they must have one heckofa haunted house or mansion with a name like blood creek manor. again, not bad, just waaaay too short. if you walked through it while i typed this you'd be thru it by my third sentence. anyway, the trail walk made me forget all about the worry i felt creeping in that i had driven so far for nothing again, nor care how cold it was out there. the fire they keep constantly blazing helped stay warm in between walkthroughs. and the girls i was with were even able to buy nicely priced and cozy knitted hats and fleece gloves! thanks b.m.c. for thinking about such little things. the actors really made a great effort to actually play their characters and not just settle for the simple scream and run. i won't go into much detail as to what is along the walk so as not to spoil it for you. i will say that as a person who finds freddy, jason and michael myers well past their day of being scary in any way, the way they were presented to us made it probably about as fresh as it could get and definitely kept my interest and smile. this jason was, as my one girlfriend so eloquently screamed it, "god he's huuuge'!! lol. and what ensued with freddy and jason following his 'entrance' i thought was a nice touch in going that extra mile of imagination. i didn 't even mind being stopped in the cold (by our guide) at the various sets throughout the walk as the action, scares and laughs made it well worth it, even when predictable. and the little audio bites and stories that went along with each set fit well....i think if b.m.c. was to combine both haunts into one big walkthrough for one price, they would have a near perfect attraction (for their budget range that is). then the indoor haunt could be used as more of a primer of things to come instead of the tease it felt like. if i had only paid for the one indoor walk, i'd have been pretty let down. which i would hate to say since it WAS good, just not for nearly long enough. still and all i spent $12.00 for both haunts (rather than $25 at screamers hollow for two amazingly pathetic walkthroughs and a band i had no desire to even be around much less HAVE to pay to hear) and went home with ching still in my pocket from a $20 spot. warm hands from the fire. and a smile on my face. thanks to the efforts of those at blood creek manor, i'm at least now batting .500 on my halloween adventures. and looking forward to next weekend!
