Haunt: The Last Ride
Score: 3.5 out of 5
Highly Recommended!
When we pulled up to the Last Ride, it was 12 minutes after 9pm. The hours for Sunday were 7-9. We were hopeful they'd still be running, but prepared for a let down. There were about 15 people hanging out in front of the concession stand talking & laughing... It was easy to tell by the convo that they were the "monsters".. We asked the ticket taker at the door if we were too late & he said no... Another guy (who I assume was the owner) pointed us to the ticket booth and was friendly about letting us go through even though we were so late. Our only concern was that the crew would be half-hearted about our walk through since their night was done until our late asses pulled up.. That wasn't the case at all.
As you 1st walk into the haunt, it's through thick fog and synced strobes (No guide either, which is nice)... After the 1st scare, we quickly realized the haunt was packed with well placed actors. I must have been caught off guard half a dozen times! lol.. I'm a Haunt junkie and have been to almost every Haunt within an hour of Syracuse, I walk around corners with a cheese eatin grin knowing I'm about to get blasted...
Several times my expectations were toyed with. From greatly timed startles, to clever tricks in the pitch black that I can only guess required someone using "night vision" goggles. It's the ONLY Haunt I've been to this season where I felt like a hopeless victim for a brief moment! Completely at their mercy lol..
All in all it was alot of fun. My only reason for giving it a score of 3.5 instead of 4, is the length. Even just another minute or two would have put me over the edge... Regardless, for sheer "scares", which is what Haunted Houses are all about, The Last Ride outdoes many other Haunts with ease and is well worth the drive. Rt. 81 North to the Central Square exit, go left into Central Square and follow the signs. Much closer than driving out to Chittenango, or Sandy Creek or Sterling- and plenty of scares for just $7.00.
Unfortunately we got there to late for the Hayride and it was rainy anyway... But if they do a hayride anything like the Haunt, the 2 together sound like a killer combo.
The Last Ride is open on Halloween Night! I'd highly recommend it to anyone!
