I'm a Halloween addict having traveled Buffalo to Albany going to haunts and attractions. Screamers Hollow at the Renaissance Fair in Sterling is tops! Went last night with a group and we had a great time. There's a hayride, haunted walk but the grounds have a lot to do to keep you entertained. It was a nice night and it was fun hanging with a group around the fires in the villiage (kinda of spooky by itself), screams in the back ground, listening to the band and just relaxing ratherv than being hustled out like so many haunts do. This place is definitely in a leaque by itself anywhere around central New York. In fact going back again in two weekends with a group from my work.

I had told everyone in the open forum that I would post my thoughts on Screamers Hollow, after going last weekend with my wife and friends, so here it is. Way COOL...!!! The whole place was very different from other haunts......it has live bands ...fire pits to warm up at... really spooky atmosphere...3 attractions to choose from , plus live shows on different stages.. !! The Hayride was really good.it was about 40 mins.......lots of monsters tons of lights...and the carnial area we thought was AWSOME. There was this guy on a bridge thing...he was great too!! We then went inside the asylum...and we all got caught off guard several times, and we are not teens here( we are older)...so to scare me and my brother, is tough. ..but they got us !! The last thing we did was listen to the band and get by a fire pit.......ate some burgers and cookies and then walked the grounds to just stroll around. This haunt, was well worth our time and money...and I wouldnt be surprised if it becomes huge !! Screamers hollow is not your average haunt around the area, it is more like a haunt fest. So, my last words are.........go try things people, for yourself, and enjoy!! YES......I SAY ..SCREAMERS HOLLOW is a riot!!

I agree on the above.....!!! Go to SCREAMERS HOLLOW--- !!!! The place is not what you will be used to . It is not like other haunts. It is full of things to do all evening.games, food, bands...live shows....and 3 attractions. I think most of us here in syracuse an close areas are use the same old cheap haunts....but this place is going to be huge....you just remember I said this here. They are like a carnival haunt, strolling entertiners........and just an overall different spooky place. Go try it out, you will have alot of fun....forget what you are use to and see the difference in what they offer , its very good!!!

I wanted to give my thoughts on my trip to Screamers Hollow, and share them here with everyone and hope that this helps out. I can tell you this much, it's different.........it is not like the usual haunted places . I think thats what makes it so different. The fact we ould take our time and walk around, without going fast through the attrations was a nice new change. You could spend hours there. It reminds me of an old haunted village, and carnival like. I am hearing from my co workers who also went last saturday night that people are seeing it's not what most are use to, whih is why we think it's really great!! This area needed something new and fresh, something Haunted but with a new turn to it, and Screamers Hollow has done it. 2 thumbs up !!!

..I rate Screamers Hollow a 4.5........they were very entertaining ...good set up....lots of monsters....fires....spooky atmosphere....really good attractions you can take your time through....good food, nice live band......live shows on different stages....really cool huge monsters...VERY LONG HAYRIDE....nice scenes ...great sound....very good overall. The Asylum maze we had alot of sares in. There are creeped out monsters in all sorts of tiny places you have to pass through. Well set up.....lots of fun!! I then went to terror on the boggs..........an outside trail that was well set up and worth every cent. I got caught off guard in this dark tunnel..then again after this thing flies out at you.....and in the end, after eating, watching shows and going to all 3 attractions, we were there for 3 hours! Nice change, something new, something well set up...........VERY enjoyable. HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE.........

I totally disagree. very enjoyable? thats nice. but was it scary? I've been to some wicked haunts, and some not so wicked haunts, and in my opinion, screamers hollow is not run professionally in the least bit.

Hay Bill when SPECIFICALLY did you last visit SCREAMERS I highly doubt it was this year. Its a highly charged rock-n-roll haunted freak-fest. The slaughter house asylum is extremely scary. and terror on the bogs, definitly got us as well. The hay ride was long and very good. The ghost story fire pit was assume and the different stage shows were way cool. We were there for a few hours it was excellent! Are you sure you really went and when?

I went last wk and I went last year too. Highly charged? do you work there or something? lol slaughterhouse asylum scary? you must be joking. the maze is kinda kewl and they do have it wired for sound all thru with wispsers and good music. but the robotic shaking girl started after we were 5 steps past it, no live person caught me off guard even once, and I even caught one of the monsters drinking a can of soda. I scared HIM! who the hell is the boss down there? I've been to many haunts that were "unprofessional" and at least got scared a few times. not at screamers hollow. no scares, far away, and insultingly expensive. thats my review.

PS: It WAS kewl that we could hang by a fire and not just go home after we went thru, but i can hang out in my back yard. i'm looking to be scared when i go to a haunted house. they should call it hang out hollow. cuz shure as hell nobody doing any screaming.

We go to most of the haunts in cny yearly and they all have their good points and not so good ones. Last year we went to Screamers twice (two trails only) once the 1st saturday and they were over run with people long lines not well organized etc. We went again the 3rd week end and it was better but the groups were to large and only the people in the front got the scares. We were told by friends to check them out again this year so last saturday friends from work and I went again and it was great ( four different frights the Village of the Damed, Nightmares Alive, Slaughterhouse Asylum, and Terror on the Bogs). They gave us reservations so the lines were much faster and we were free to watch the live shows and the live rock band on stages, they also had very well made up ghouls roaming freely in the village area, there were games hot food and we got really cool hoodies and t-shirts and there lots of fire pits to stay warm. We all agreed it was much improved and it looked like they got their (you know what) together much more professional. In a couple of years this could be a mega haunt.

Totally would dissagree with Bill above, and nothing personal here, but my family went last saturday to Screamers Hollow and we loved it. The hayride was very long, very entertaining, and we are in our late 30's, so keeping us in the midst of it all meant something was good!! The price was 17.50 and also included the village shows and band. We went in the maze and it was really wild. The small spots characters come out of will certainly get you! This is not like a theme park , it is like an old haunted village or haunt fest, which people are not USE TO in this local area. I like the layout, the attractions.......the whole thing was a really nice night out for us!! If you want to be entertained, go try things!!!

Ok this is BS. You guys posted your review. Do you really need to argue with everyone elses? Saying I'm "out to lunch" because I disagree with you? Get a life. Screamers Hollow sucks.

Well, I have been checking in just lurking here reading the forums/reviews and I will just add my two cents to the mix. I have some background here as I owned/ran a Haunted House with a good friend of mine for seven years and it was successful, all proceeds went to local charities and poured alot of money back into the community. We closed shop in 2006. I have then had the opportunity to visit other haunts over the last couple years and check them out. First and foremost.....no haunt will ever please everyone, nobody will ever like everything, they may like parts of it.....but everybody is different and we all have our own likes/dislikes and we all can't be pleased. No big deal that is just human nature. I can get on here and rip many of the haunts I have been to, but I will not do that. What I like or look for is not the same as the next guy.............and quite honestly, it is just an opinion. What I will say is that all the haunts in the area have alot of work involved, money, sweat, and planning........good or bad it takes alot more than people think to put on a haunt, it just doesn't happen over night. With that being said, I have been to Screamers Hollow and it is good. Now lets break it down. PRICE?........$17.50 for a 40 minute hayride and access to a village with live bands, 3 or 4 small shows,(PLUS TWO OTHER ATTRACTIONS WITH SEPERATE ADMISSION PRICES) and large roaming creatures, food/souvenior booths and you can stay and enjoy yourself and not feel rushed. Most haunts get your money and after wanting for long periods to get in and the actual haunt only takes 10 or 15 minutes later you are through it and you are walking back to your car and at what price?.....atleast $8 to $10 (or more) bucks. They (Screamers Hol) have a large staff of scarers, props, animatronics, police/security, tractors/trailers, guides, maintance etc.... SCARY........Again this is so hard because everybody is different on this one.....some people are freaked out at a mouse other are not......so what is scary to one person may not be to another.....I consider myself very hardcore to scare so it takes alot to really get me and I was caught off guard several times between the three attractions. Not everything "got me" but I can appreciate the time and effort that was put into everything and I will say it was all entertaining!!!!.............There were complete strangers on my tours that were truly scared and enjoying themselves....you just have to go and judge for yourself. LOCATION........How can that be an issue? ........What if the best Haunt in the World is located at location X smack dab in the middle of a thriving city and I live in location B......Who's fault is that? We can't all have everything in our back yard. What if you drive 1 or 2 hours to see your favorite team play and then they lose the game in a blowout...or your favorite driver finishes last??...................after spending big bucks on tickets, gas, food souveniors etc. I guess what I am really getting at here is that all these Haunts (and I mean other locations, not just Screamers Hollow) are suppose to be fun and enjoyable............lighten up people, go out for an evening and relax, have some fun.....take it all in and then if you feel like it share your experiance but with an "open mind"......state the things you didn't like and why, but also state what you did like.......I myself find it very hard to pick on anyone haunt and find everything bad about it, even the worse that I have been to had something I did like about it............maybe, just maybe one day the best haunt will be made when we can get all the "Haunt experts" out there on the forums to cough up their money and time and take the risk to build it........I tip my hats off to those who have at least taken the chance to give it a try and at least give us a place to go during the Halloween season and I thank you guys/gals for that!!!!!!!

HATS OFF to the posting above!! Go try these haunts people and stop picking everything apart. You cant dislike everything at every haunt. They are made to have fun, get out of your house and have something to do in the fall to be entertained.!! Go enjoy them!!! I have hit Blood creek........the fright at the fair....Screamers Hollow ....and trail of terror....and though I might not have liked everything at each one, they were all entertaining to my family......and friends. Just have fun with the different places.
